I'm reminded of something I read, years ago written by Dixie Lee Ray that had to do with measuring poison contamination in fish. The activist lab doing the work had ground up whole fish and then measured the level of contamination. Ms Ray made the point what is on the skin and in the gut is not in the fish.

Kudos to you! I myself realized I made a similar flub in my book about radon, which I will correct in the second edition.
